SUE ANNE MEADOWS, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 22, 1947, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and spent a lifetime dedicated to her family, her profession, and her church. Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Wayne Meadows, with whom she shared a beautiful and fulfilling life. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Bryan Meadows (Robin) of Mineral Wells, WV, and daughters Kari Walker (Patrick) of Vienna, WV, Erin Neff (Rusty) of Davisville, WV, Sarah Middleton (Casey) of Mineral Wells, WV, and Kristen Meadows of Weirton, WV. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Tyler Walker, Alexis Smith, Hannah Strosnider (Shawn), Zachery Meadows, Chloe Smith, Seth Meadows, Jaylynn Middleton, Shaye Middleton, and Maggie Meadows. She also leaves behind her brother, Richard Deem of Huntsville, AL, and her sister, Janice Greenleaf, of Parkersburg, WV, as well as several nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Richmond, her father, Kenneth Richmond, her brother, Kenneth Richmond II, and her sister, Eleanor Bailey. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has reunited with her beloved family members who passed before her. A proud alumna of Parkersburg High School, class of 1965, Sue’s passion for learning and helping others led her to pursue higher education at Marshall University, where she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing in 1998. Sue’s career was marked by compassion, dedication, and excellence. She began her journey in healthcare as a Lab Tech at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, she continued to serve her community as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and as a Home Health Nurse. Her commitment to nurturing future generations of healthcare professionals was evident during her time as a Nursing Instructor at Hocking College. Later, as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Jackson General Hospital, she provided care and comfort to countless individuals and families. Sue’s interests reflected her love for creativity and her desire to bring joy to those around her. An accomplished quilter and crafter, she found solace and joy in creating beautiful pieces that would often become treasured family heirlooms. Her love for cats was well-known, as she always had a feline companion by her side. But above all, Sue cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was an active and devoted member of the Broadway Nazarene Church, and enjoyed contributing to community outreach programs. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had a unique ability to make others laugh. Sue was also an avid fan of game shows, where she would often outwit the contestants from the comfort of her home. Sue lived a life full of purpose, love, and laughter. Her unwavering faith, her commitment to her family, and her dedication to her profession have left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the memories she has left us and the impact she has made on our lives. Sue’s spirit will continue to live on through the love she shared and the wisdom she imparted. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the countless lives she touched. Sue will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, 1 p.m. at the Broadway Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor John Witmer, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
