LAVENIA ROSE MARIE (BROWN) ROYAL, 83, of Westerville, OH, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Legacy Westerville. LaVenia was born on August 27, 1940 in Triadelphia, WV. She was the daughter of the late Felix Houston Brown Sr. and Lena M. (Palmer) Brown. LaVenia attended Henderson Chapel, Wellsburg, WV. She worked as a bartender at the Elks, Wellsburg. Many will remember LaVenia for her love of family and friends, crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching John Wayne and the Color Purple; but most of all, her deep love and devotion to the Lord. In addition to her parents, LaVenia was preceded in death by her husband, Washington M. Royal; eight siblings: Stewart Brown, William Brown and wife Jackie, Felix Brown Jr., Beatrice Dixon and husband Wallace, April Brown, Sandra Brown, Barbara Thornton and husband Robert, and Mildred Jeter and husband, Perry Sr.; three nieces, Patsy Brown, Jacqueline Dixon, and Diane Grant; a nephew, Jeffrey Jeter; a daughter-in-law, Toni Royal; and Elizabeth Ward. LaVenia is survived by her two children, Carmen Still and Ronald Royal; three grandchildren, Anthony, Dante and Alina Rose Marie; five great grandchildren: Dezirae, Nyla, Dante Jr., Tre and Izabella; two sisters, Norma Clark and Maxine Brown and husband Albert; special extended family, Marlella Thomas and husband James and family, Daryle Thornton and wife Joyce and family, Albert Thornton and family, and Jack Thornton Jr. and family; a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and Godchildren; extended family and friends including Henrietta Thornton, Ralph Still, Bonnie and Jesse, Pam and Danny, Vicki and Gerard, Beverly and family and Fran Brown and family. Family and friends were received on Saturday, August 24, 2024 until the time of Home Going at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Pastors James and Marlella Thomas presiding.
