Parker McMahon and Elliot McDonald have been named at the Brooke High School “Players of the Week.” Each has performed has led their teams in the past 10 days to significant victories in the young 2024 high school golf season.
McMahon, just a sophomore, capped a fine early season performance by shooting an 18 hole round of 71 to lead the team to a fine 3rd place finish in the St. Marys Invitational. He has consistently been the low scorer for the team thus far this 2024 season. A resident of Wellsburg, Parker has only been playing golf for two years. His best golf skill has been his play around the greens earning him the nickname “chippy.” He credits his development to the Brooke High School coaching staff including coaches: Hone, Gaudino and Zurback as well as the opportunities provided at Highland Springs Golf Course and Brooke Hills Park.
He is also a member of the Brooke baseball team.
Outside of golf, Mr. McMahon is a fine student at Brooke high school with interests in the business field. He plans to attend college and hopefully play golf.
A junior, Ms. McDonald is a resident of Colliers, WV has contributed to both the boys and the new girls golf team at Brooke High School. Her finest round this young season is a score of 42 in a girls match at Highland Springs Golf Course where she bested one of the top players in the state Maddie Potts from Wheeling Central.
The has been playing golf for three years. The #1 thing she enjoys about the sport of golf is getting to meet girls from all over the area who have similar interests in golf. One of her favorite things to do is to challenge her father, David to a friendly round of golf on a course in the Ohio Valley.
“Ellie” is an outstanding student at Brooke High School and enjoys business classes and is a member of Future Business Leaders of America where she especially enjoys their community projects and FBLA conferences.
Her goals are to continue her academic success and become more consistent at playing golf so she can become one of the top ten female players in West Virginia.
