Charlotte Novella Deuley Lohr

CHARLOTTE NOVELLA DEULEY LOHR, 94, of Wellsburg, WV, quietly went to be with her Lord Jesus on August 21, 2024. She was born in Wellsburg on December 14, 1929, and graduated from Wellsburg High School Class of 1948. Raised by a strong-God-fearing mother, she chose to follow her Mom’s example and forged her own path. Putting Down building blocks of life, she married Don T. Lohr, in December of 1948, and was his back-up as he finished college. Many additional blocks were added during the twenty plus years as a volunteer with the PTA stretching from her oldest to her youngest sons. This included multiple terms as PTA President. Adding a huge number of building blocks were her eighty two years with her church. A lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Wellsburg, she served as: a Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, a Sunday School teacher for kindergarteners, a member of the women’s missionary committee, and as a Deaconess, as well as singing in the church choir and bowling in the women’s church league. Charlotte served as a polling place worker for three decades worth of elections until she was in her 70s. She was an avid walker and happily participated in the Bayer Wellness Program. Late in life, Charlotte’s husband, Don, had a heart attack that kept him out of work for an extended time. Despite not being a licensed agent, she stepped in and kept the office running while he convalesced. Charlotte was a civic minded citizen of her hometown and cared about her neighbors throughout her long life. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Hardin “Doc” Deuley, and Pearle Crouch Deuley; four siblings: Alfred “Bud” Deuley and wife, Wanda, Katherine Verner and husband, Paul, Margaret Gatton and husband, Milton, Lloyd Deuley and wife Blanche; and grandson, Ian Lohr. Charlotte is survived by her four children: Don E. Lohr and wife, Donna of Kingwood, WV, Thomas J. Lohr and wife, Nona of Albuquerque, NM, Kurt A. Lohr of Wellsburg, WV, and William K. Lohr and wife, Joanna of Middletown, MD; four grandchildren: Benjamin Lohr and wife, Ashley, William Lohr and wife, Samantha, Mateusz J. Gabryszuk, and Cassandra Lohr and husband, Joey Barta; and six great grandchildren: Daveany, Kinley, Garren, Elan, Mars, and Ethan Lohr. Family and friends were received on Monday, August 26, 2024 until the time of the funeral service at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Minister Watt officiating. Interment followed at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom. Condolences and stories may be viewed or added at www.chambersandjames.com
