Russell James Neff

RUSSELL JAMES NEFF, 81, of Benwood, died August 29, 2024, in Benwood. He was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Glen Dale, son of the late Russell and Nora Blake Neff. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War as part of the 1st Calvary Division, retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel coil coating line with 40 years of service and a member of McMechen Church of God. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, gardening, the outdoors and sporting events and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Nile “Zeke” Neff, and two sisters, Wilda Sullivan and Donna Jean Neff. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Broski Neff; a son, Anthony (Jolynn) Neff of Wellsburg; daughter, Jennifer Neff (Adam Olmsted) of McMechen; five grandchildren, Franki and Grace Neff, Benjamin Henderson, Olivia and Kendall Olmsted. Private services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, Moundsville.
