CECIL HOLBROOK, JR., 91, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024 at his residence under the care of his family with the assistance of Valley Hospice. Cecil was born on December 3, 1932 in Auto, WV. He was the son of Hansford Cecil Holbrook Sr. and Zella (Workman) Holbrook. Cecil was a Weir High School graduate in 1951 and graduated from West Liberty University graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in 1981 and a Masters of Accounting. He served proudly in the United State Navy during the Korean War and Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of Kolmont Community Church, Mingo Junction. Cecil worked at Miner and Mechanics Bank and then worked in the Blast Furnace of Weirton Steel retiring in the 90’s and went on to be a cross-country truck driver enjoying the travel. He was a member of Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission and a life member of American Legion Post #557. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Judith (Clifton) Holbrook and a brother, Charles Holbrook. Cecil is survived by his three children: Lori Sokac and her husband, Anthony of Oakdale, PA, Frederick Holbrook and his wife, Melissa Schleigh of Eagle, ID, and Nicole Ashmore, and husband, Jason of Colliers, WV; three grandchildren: Jennifer Salmons, Stephanie Siegman and Sarah Morris; 11 great grandchildren: Jess, Jaime, Nathan, Dane, Aidan, Braden, Noah, Ellie, McKenzie “Lil Mac”, Gabriel, and Cullen; and a sister, Dorothy Lovvorn of Wedowee, AL. The James Funeral Home of Follansbee was honored and privileged to assist the Holbrook family with a simple Veteran’s cremation and a memorial service at a later date.
