GENEVA MAE (BUTLER) AKERS RHINEHART BLACK, 73, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024 at the Mary Jane Brooks Valley Hospice Care Center, Steubenville, OH. Geneva was born on May 9, 1951 in Calhoun County, WV. She was the daughter of the late Donzel Butler and Lilly (Hall) Butler. Geneva worked as a Kitchen Aide at Brightwood Center, Follansbee, WV. Everyone knows about her famous Thanksgiving pumpkin rolls and the best macaroni salad. In addition to being a fabulous cook, Geneva worked in her garden while always watching her Soap Opera of General Hospital. She loved to camp and spend time with her family and friends. You would always see her by the pool; but everyone will remember Geneva for her smile and her caring and giving heart. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Akers; second Husband, Wayne Rhinehart; and a brother, Jack Butler. Geneva is survived by her husband of 14 years, Earl Black; eight children: Brenda Akers, Dianna Boyle, Robert Akers, Charles Akers, Loretta “Lori” Grubb, Sharon Lemons, Brandy Black and Richard Black; 22 grandchildren; way too many to count great grandchildren; 12 siblings: Paul, Bob, Grover, Frank, Clarence, Kenneth, Sharon, Carolynn, Faye, Peggy, Marie, and Pauline; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on October 14, 2024 from 12-4 p.m., at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee.
