ROBERT WAYNE STUCKEY, JR., 77, of Windsor Heights, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his home after recent health struggles surrounded by his family. Robert was born May 7, 1947 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Robert Wayne Stuckey Sr. and Peggy (Gamble) Stuckey. Robert served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp as Staff Sergeant serving two tours as a Combat Veteran in Vietnam. He was a highly dedicated veteran receiving the Purple Heart for being a wounded solider, Navy Presidential Unit Citation for bravery, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Air Crewman Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge. Robert was honored locally as the 2015 Brooke County Veterans Memorial Foundation Veteran of the Year and the Order of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of many veteran groups including the AEP Veterans Group, Marine Corp League, Lifetime Member VFW and Warwood Veterans Club. Robert appeared on the WTRF Veterans Voices and was instrumental in the completion of the I-470 Vietnam Veteran Bridge from the start of the project. His volunteer work was not just limited his service to his country, Robert served his community as a Windsor Heights Volunteer Firefighter for 52 years and former councilman of Windsor Heights. Robert was a member of the Windsor Coal Semi Pro Baseball League and the coach of the Windsor Heights Baseball Team. In his professional life, Robert graduated from WV Northern with an Associates in Business and retired from AEP as a Unit Operator. He was proud to be a Union member of Local 492 of the Utility Workers Union of America. Robert spiritual life led him to be an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church serving as greeter and lector. In his spare time, He played cards with his friends and enjoyed reading. Robert lived a life of Family, God and Country and leaves a legacy for his memory to live on forever. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister. Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Matusic) Stuckey; two sons, Robert A. Stuckey and his wife, Janice of Wheeling, WV and Aaron Stuckey and his wife, Susan of Windsor Heights, WV; two grandsons, Jacob Stuckey and his fiancé, Shaylea and Joshua Stuckey; a faithful furry companion, Esty; three sisters; an aunt, Ruth Grob; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, with Father Justin Golna presiding. Following with Military Honors by the United States Marine Corp and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
