GFWCWV Northern District held it’s 111th Annual Fall convention October 19, 2024 at the Christ United Methodist Church. Woman’s Club of Wheeling served as host club, with Vicki Jo Smith, President, and Chairman. Linda Snodgrass serving as Registration Chairman.
Registration, continental breakfast and board meeting was held prior to the convention.
Keynote speaker was Terri Diamond, GFWCWV President-elect of Omar.
Michelle Beihl, Civic League of War wood, District President called the meeting to order and welcome all. Vicki Jo Smith, extended a Welcome from the host club.
Inspiration, Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States and Club Collect was led by Jeanne Amidon, first Vice President , Weirton Woman’s Club.
Linda Snodgrass gave the preliminary report, followed by Convention Rules, by Helen Moren, Parliamentarian, GFWCWV Bethany Woman’s Club.
Minutes of the 2024 convention were approved as presented. Lexie Hanket, Tuesday Arts of Moundsville, Jenelle Crinkey, Civic League of Warwood and Jeanne Wolfe, McMechen Woman’s Club were appointed to read the 2024 minutes. Financial Report was given by Lexie Hanket, Treasurer.
Helen Moren, was elected Chairman of the District Nominating Committee. Also, Elizabeth McKee, Woman’s Club of Wheeling and Ms. Crinkley. Helen Gibson 2nd Vice, Follansbee 20th Century of Follansbee was elected to serve on the state nominating and election committee. Ms. Amidon will serve as alternate.
District Committee Chairman gave their report: Sandy Smith, Tuesday Arts of Moundsville-Arts & Culture; Environment-Jeanne Wolfe, Barbara Cover, Civic League of Warwood-Education and Libraries; Meredith Weiler, Civic League of Warwood-Health and Wellness; Civic Engagement and Outreach-Enid Williams-Weirton Woman’s Club.
Natalie Hinkle, GWCWV State President project is HOME, Helen Moren, past State President spoke on the project and also, GFWCWV Signature Project.
Club presidents outlined their work for the past year: Ms. Moren, Ms. Amidon, Ms. Gibson, Ms. Cover, Ms. Snodgrass, and Ms. Smith.
Club members brought items which were donated to the Children Home Society and YWCA.
A Memorial service was conducted by Ms. Gibson.
Invitation to the 2025 convention to be held at Bethany was extended by Ms. Moren.
Meeting closed with the Pledge of Allegiance to the West Virginia flag.
