RODGER JAMES ANDERSON, JR., 54, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2024, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville. Born on May 15, 1970, in Weirton, he was the beloved son of Rodger and Charlotte Williams Anderson. Rodger was a 1988 graduate of Dunbar High School and was known for his warm heart and joyful spirit. His kind nature and helpful soul made him a cherished figure in the community, particularly at the Weirton Shop-N-Save, where he became a familiar face to all as a staple for twenty-three years. He had an unwavering faith and lived his life with a carefree heart, embracing each day without worry. Rodger enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, from spending time at home to taking family trips to Virginia with his sister Katina and her family. A devoted Chicago Bears and Bulls fan, he also especially admired and often imitated the King of Pop Michael Jackson. He was also a lover of nature and could often be found walking along Pennsylvania Avenue, rain, or shine, covering at least five miles each day while whistling joyfully. His love for animals was evident in the care he showed his two beloved turtles, Rodger, and Charlotte, whom he considered his adopted children. Above all, Rodger valued the friendships he built with customers and colleagues at Shop-N-Save, treasuring those lifelong connections. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory with much love are his sister Katina (Monte) Crisci and his nephew Matthew Crisci all of Follansbee, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to join Rodger’s family for a graveside memorial service on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Three Springs Cemetery in Weirton. He will be inurned with his mother and father. Pastor James Rhodes will officiate. Rodger will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, Weirton. Rodger’s happy soul will continue to inspire those who knew him, as he rests now in God’s care. Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.com.
