KAREN LYNN KEENAN, 72, of Colliers, WV, peacefully passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her son Theo’s residence. Born on September 7, 1951, in Alliance, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of Leroy and Clara Binius McGrath. Karen was a proud 1970 graduate of West Branch High School in Beloit, and on July 25, 1971, she married her soulmate, Larry Keenan, beginning a lifelong journey of love, faith, and devotion. A woman of unwavering faith, Karen’s spirituality was central to her life, guiding her actions and bringing comfort and strength to those around her. Her family fondly remembers her as the embodiment of a true Christian, someone whose commitment to her beliefs was unwavering. She spent countless hours at church, worshiping and sharing in fellowship, and was deeply devoted to Gospel music, finding peace and inspiration in its melodies. Karen was a beloved grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. She taught them never let a single person in your life go hungry or without, always do what you can for people never expecting anything in return. She chose to forgo treatment in her final days to make the most of her precious time with them, creating lasting memories filled with love. Her dedication to her family and friends was profound, always willing to lend a hand and known for her reliability and selflessness. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity, often sharing her famous apple pies and crafting quilts for newborns at her church, “The Voice of Pentecost” in Weirton. Beyond her family and church, Karen had a lasting impact on her community through her role as an educator. She taught at the Weirton Christian Academy from 1982 to 1998, and as a Sunday School teacher for most of her life, instilling values and knowledge in countless young minds. Her life was a testament to faith, service, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Keenan on September 15, 2015, brothers William and Daryl McGrath, and sisters Bonna McGrath, Marilyn Funkhouser, and Joyce Keiser. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Theo (Kelly) Keenan of Colliers, Titus Keenan of Adena, OH, and daughter Victoria (Don) Cessna of Weirton, grandchildren Haley Huff, Stefanie Stevens, Garrett and Clara Cessna, and Tabitha, Chesney and Abbigail Keenan, great grandchildren Marly and Melody Sandreth and Leo and Ollie Huff, brother Lee McGrath and sister Diane Cantwell. Friends were invited to visit Karen’s family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, where funeral services were held on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Entombment followed in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens. Pastor Rob Holley officiated. Karen’s spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her.
