Eddie Eugene Jones

EDDIE EUGENE JONES, 76, of Weirton, WV, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at his residence with his family by his side. Eddie was born on April 20, 1948 in New Martinsville, WV. He was the son of the late Ralph Jones and Dorothy (Quinn) Jones. Eddie was a 1966 graduate of Weir High School. He retired after 47 years of service starting at National Steel through Weirton Steel, Arcelor Mittal and finishing with Cleveland Cliffs. He worked in the Coke Plant, Blast Furnace, Cinder Plant and the Tin Mill. Eddie always kept in touch with his mill buddies’ meeting at Mario’s to shoot the breeze. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, WV. Eddie loved music except for country and you would always find Eddie before COVID at Mountaineer on the dance floor with his sweetheart, Carol. In addition to music and his work, Eddie loved riding his Harley Motorcycles, bowling at Steel Valley and Holiday Lanes and playing golf for the Weirton Steel League; but most of all, he loved to spend time with his beloved wife and their yearly trips to Myrtle Beach. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Jones, grandma, Jessie and two sisters, Jeannie Jones and Karen Harris. Eddie is survived by his wife of 58 years and beloved high school sweetheart, Caroline “Carol” Jones; three children: Eddie Jones, Jr., Richard T. Jones and companion, Rose, and Christopher Jones; five grandchildren, who called him their pap: Brett Jones, Jack Jones, Ryan Jones and fiancé Moriah, Nathan Jones and his companion, Brandy and Michael Jones and his wife, Courtney; five siblings: Ronnie Jones and his companion, Donna, Michael Jones and his companion, Corinna, Allen Jones, Debbie Moore and Patty Vaughn; dear friend, Joanne Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family gathering and Liturgy of the Word was held at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Father Dennis Schuelkens, Jr., presiding. Entombment followed at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church or the Brooke County Animal Shelter, C/o Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
