Gerald “Jerry” William Baxter

GERALD “JERRY” WILLIAM BAXTER, 79, of Colliers, WV, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 15, 2024 at his residence. Jerry was born on February 15, 1945, Weirton, WV. He was the son of the late Richard Baxter and Katherine “Katie” Baxter. Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Army. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel working on the railroad. Jerry was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Follansbee, WV and the American Legion Post 45, Follansbee. Many will remember Jerry for his love of sports especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, his enjoyment of gardening and playing Euchre. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his birth mother, Margaret Zorne and his wife, Elizabeth “Sue” (Falgout) Baxter. Jerry is survived by his son, Mikael “Shane” Baxter of Weirton, WV and his fiancé, Jamie Pearson of Wellsburg, WV; sons Chad Cantor, Mike Fisher, Todd Pepe, Eric Wentz and Matt Ryan; dear friends and neighbors, Mike and Karen Highfield of Colliers, WV; Lighthouse Baptist Church family; and his Euchre friends. Family and friends were received on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 until the time of the funeral service, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Pastor Shane Henderson and his friend, Matthew Ryan, officiating and Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
