Patsy Ann Saffel

PATSY ANN SAFFEL, 86, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, at Brightwood Nursing Home. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Patsy was born on March 28, 1938, in Pennsboro, West Virginia, to the late Clint and Pearl Henthorn. She spent her early years growing up in Tyler, WV. Her family moved to Holland, Michigan for her elementary years. Then her family moved to Weirton, WV where she began attending Weir High school. It was here she met the love of her life, James Saffel. Patsy graduated from Weir High and shortly after married James on June 28, 1958. Throughout her life, Patsy was dedicated to her faith and her family. She was an active member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for many years, supporting church events and teaching Sunday School. She was also a member of the Oakland Homemakers Association and served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. In later years, Patsy joined Mercy Baptist Church, where she continued to serve and support community events and programs. Patsy was a family oriented Christian woman. She was a homemaker and took wonderful care of her family. Patsy is survived by her children, Jay Michael Saffel (Tina) of Chesterfield, South Carolina and Pamela Ann Thompson of Weirton, West Virginia, along with her grandchildren, Ashlyn Luttrell (Robert) of Oakdale, Minnesota; Esta Duffy of Kokomo, Indiana; Tyson Rumple (Christina) of Marion, Indiana, and Victoria Rumple of Marion, Indiana and Curtis Boatwright, Tina’s son. Nephew and Nieces; Kenda (Richard) Levett, Garth (Jody) Henthorn, Kyla Bos, Keena Davis, and Drew (Lisa) Henthorn and great nieces and nephews. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Malachi Bryant, Isaiah Rumple, Whitney Duffy, Keona Duffy, Kaylee Duffy, Gavreil Young, Henry Rumple, with one more great granddaughter to be born in January. Her memory will not be forgotten by all who knew her. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, James Madison Saffel, her parents, Clint R. Henthorn and Pearl L. (Ash) Henthorn, brother and sister-n-law, Carl and Phyllis Henthorn as well as grandson, Titus Rumple, great grandson Eli Rumple, and three great grandchildren angel babies which she will embrace in Heaven. Visitation was held Saturday, November 16, 2024 until the time of the service, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, with Patsy’s granddaughter, Pastor Ashlyn Luttrell presiding. Interment took place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
