Sylvia Delores Jones

SYLVIA DELORES JONES, 88, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Weirton Geriatric Center. Born on August 15, 1936, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras a daughter of the late Arlmondo and Alicia (Agiuluz) Flores. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Carlos Flores, and Edwin Flores. Sylvia graduated from high school and college in Honduras. She retired after 27 years as a nurse’s aide at both Weirton Geriatric Center and Brightwood Center. Sylvia was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society in Follansbee, WV. In her spare time, she liked to Bowl, play bingo, and her stops at the casino and most of all her time spent with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Carl Jones; four children: Lurbyn St. Van of Jupiter, FL, Gustavo “Gus” (Denise) Jones of Weirton, WV, Dr. Carl (Erin) Jones of Nachdoches, TX, and Carla (Tom) Bensie of Mingo Junction, OH; three sisters: Rosa Gomez, Leslie Loring, and Norma Thomas Flores; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, with four on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial mass is being planned for August 15, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
