Douglas Walter Metz

DOUGLAS WALTER METZ, 66, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away in Daphne, Alabama, Sunday, November 17, 2024. Douglas was born in Wheeling, WV on July 24, 1958, a son of the late Jack Metz and Sonja (Kanick) Metz of Wellsburg, WV. in addition to his father, Doug is also preceded in death by his wife, Annette Metz; daughter, Tiffany Metz; two brothers, James Metz and Jack Metz; and a sister, Susie Metz. Doug served in the US Air Force. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 22 years. He was a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan and in his spare time he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1354 in Wellsburg, WV and the V.F.W. and American Legion. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Mike (Amanda) Metz of Daphne, AL; his grandchildren, Matthew Metz, Rylie Metz and Maddox Metz; and one brother, Thomas (Leslie) Metz of Follansbee, WV; along with several nieces and nephews. There was no visitation. A private service and inurnment will be held in Tupelo, MS at a later date. Local arrangements by the Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee.
