Virginia Ellen Cooke Newton

VIRGINIA ELLEN COOKE NEWTON, 97, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away November 20, 2024, at The Inn at Sarasota Bay Club, Sarasota, FL. She was born October 29, 1927, in Wheeling, WV to the late Charles and Elinor Britt Cooke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Newton, and two brothers, Keith and William Cooke. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Burdette (Luther) of Monks Corner, SC, Mary Geisel (Edward) of Wheeling, WV, Elinor Newton of Baytown, TX, and Cynthia “Cindy” Godby (John) of Sarasota, FL; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. Visitation was held on Monday November 25, 2024 until the time of the service, at Reasner Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Pastor Dan Harry officiating. Interment followed at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg.
