GHSP Recognizes Older Driver Safety Awareness Week

The West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) is working with the U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) to recognize Older Driver Safety Awareness Week Dec. 2-6.
Fatal traffic crashes involving older drivers ages 65 and older increased by 4.7 percent from 7,515 in 2021 to 7,870 in 2022.
In 2022 the number of fatalities in traffic crashes involving older drivers was the highest since NHTSA began tracking in 1975.
