EVELYN AGNES (WALLEY) PHILLIPS, 101, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024. Born on April 6, 1923, near Heidelberg, Pennsylvania, Evelyn was one of four children born to Paul and Pauline Musiol Walley. Evelyn married Charles R. Phillips, who worked in the Open Hearth at Weirton Steel, and together they built a loving home, raising their three daughters and one son. A dedicated homemaker, Evelyn devoted her life to caring for her family and those around her. Her natural talent for caregiving extended beyond her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, who passed on October 15, 1991; her siblings, Richard V. Walley, Paul Walley, and Lillian M. Sirback. Evelyn will be remembered for her joyful spirit and the simple pleasures she cherished. She had a passion for playing BINGO and indulging in ice cream and candy. However, her greatest love was her family, and the cherished moments spent sitting on her front porch swing. Evelyn nourished her faith at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Charles R. Phillips, Jr., and his wife, Margaret; her daughters, Patricia A. Gontas, Paula Dalton and her husband, David, and Madeline M. Phillips; as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Friends and family gathered at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Interment followed at Saint Paul’s Cemetery Weirton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice or Weirton Madonna High School. Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com.
