SAMUEL JULIO, 71, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 16, 2024, with his devoted family by his side. Sam was born on October 2, 1953, in Steubenville, OH, to the late Paul Samuel and Amelia Immaculate (Saggio) Julio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Julio, and his brother-in-law, Gary Perkins. Sam’s life was one defined by hard work, faith, and family. A graduate of Brooke High School and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sam built his career working for Mammoth Plastics, Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, and last retiring from Ball Corporation as a respected coater/operator. Sam had a passion for Notre Dame football and found his greatest joy in spending time with family, especially cheering on his grandson, Blaine, at his sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (Herrick) Julio, who shared a lifetime of memories with him; his daughter, Autumn (Brian) Beatty; and his only grandson, Blaine Beatty. He is also survived by his sister, Antoinette Perkins; his brother, Paul Julio; and several cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, on Thursday, December 19, 2024 and again on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. A vigil service also took place Thursday evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10 a.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Steubenville, OH, with Father Timothy Huffman officiating. Sam will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee. Sam’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Teramana Cancer Center, Valley Hospice nurse Andrea and aide Donna for all of their love and care throughout Sam’s time with them.
