Daniel Howard Rymer

DANIEL HOWARD RYMER of Weirton, WV, passed away on December 24, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Dan was born on December 20, 1937, in Doddridge County to the late Willis and Beulah Rymer. His sister, Mrs. Claude (Betty) Burnside of Eaton, Ohio, survives. He had one brother, the late Allen Rymer. Dan and his wife, the former Janet Middleton, were married in 1973 and recently celebrated 51 years together. They have one daughter, Sharel of Raeford, NC and her husband Kevin OConnell, who treated Dan like a father, and one grandson, Aaron OConnell and wife Olyvia of Struthers, Ohio. Dan was first married to the late Charlotte Carpenter Rymer and they were the parents of five children: Nathan (Mary) Rymer of Salem, WV, Kevin (Melissa) Rymer of SC, Kimberly (Ronnie) Van Diver of Goose Creek, SC, Theresia Sheffield of Florida, and the late Twila Lynn. Dan loved his 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Dan retired as a Master Mechanic from Harry Green Automotive in Clarksburg, WV, in 1996. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 12 years in West Virginia and Ohio. Dan enjoyed riding his Polaris four wheeler with friends and deer hunting. Over the last 20 years, Dan worked tirelessly on genealogy research and was happy to do so with his late nephew, David Burnside. Dan traced his family back to Revolutionary War patriot, Pvt. George Rymer, and was proud to become a member of the Fort Henry Chapter of the Sons of American Revolution in Wheeling, WV. Dan loved old country music, especially Kitty Wells, and old westerns. Per Dan’s wishes, there was no visitation. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Weirton. A gravesite service and inurnment will take place at Union Mission Cemetery in Doddridge County, WV, at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.steelandwolfe.com.
