Janet Fay (Schumacher) Riggs

JANET FAY (SCHUMACHER) RIGGS, 80, of Follansbee, WV passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center. Janet was born on February 9, 1944 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of the late Harold Schumacher and Agnes (Legge) Schumacher. Janet worked many years for More for Less, Riesbeck’s and Family Dollar. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Follansbee. Many will remember Janet for her love of dancing with her husband to Oldies and Country, listening to Bluegrass in addition to attending festivals, playing Bingo and taking long drives with her husband, Lonny. In addition to parents, Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Lonny Riggs Sr. Janet is survived by her four sons: Lonny Riggs, Jr. and his wife, Jayda of Follansbee, WV, Charles “Bill” Riggs and his wife, Michele, of Colliers, WV, Denny Riggs and his wife, Hope of Canton, OH and Joshua Riggs and his wife, Carol of Weirton, WV; eight grandchildren: Lonni Blair Baker and husband, Devin, Emma Jade Riggs, Nathan Riggs, Sara Riggs and fiance, Quintan Pizer, Tyler Riggs and wife, Alexis, Justin and wife, Gabby, Justin T. Riggs and Madison Riggs; and 10 great grandchildren. Family and friends were received on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 and again on Thursday, January 9, 2025 until the time of the funeral service, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Pastor Tim Colvin officiating. Interment followed at St. John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers.
