The Summit Art Gallery, located within the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 1, Weirton, announces the opening of its latest art exhibition, “Something Old, Something New, Something Blue.” This show features the works of members of the Top of WV Arts Council and showcases their creative interpretations on the theme. Members who will be displaying their work include Joyce Beatty, James Clum, Garen DiBartolomeo, Shane Howland, Dennis Jones, Gina T. Judy, Mary “Sis” Keenan, Diane Kessler, Dave Leppar, Everett D. Metz, Jaci Rice, Savannah Schroll Guz, Georgia Tambasis, Robert L. Watson, and Nancy Wright.
The exhibit opened with a reception on Thursday, January 9. The reception was free and open to the public, providing attendees with the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. The exhibit will run through March 1, and can be viewed during the Top of WV CVB’s business hours: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The show’s theme, “Something Old, Something New, Something Blue,” has inspired a wide range of creative interpretations. Some artists have connected the theme to their subject matter, while others interpret it through the age or tone of their pieces. The artists have included a description with thoughts about each of their works to further enhance understanding and enjoyment of the show. The blend of perspectives provides a diverse display of the region’s talented artists.
Gina Judy, chairperson of the show, shared her enthusiasm: “This exhibit is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible creativity and talent of our local artists. We’re thrilled to share this work with the community and invite everyone to join us. I’m sure my co-chair James Clum also agrees!”
