Perry Wright Duckworth

PERRY WRIGHT DUCKWORTH, 78, of Weirton, WV, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 25, 2025. Born on August 6, 1946, in Steubenville, Ohio, Perry was one of three children born to Clarence and Alice Wright Duckworth. Shortly after graduating from Weir High School in 1964, Perry was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War as a Crew Chief/ Door Gunner on the Bell UH -1 Huey Helicopters. On June 8, 1968, he married his sweetheart Mary Bender. They were blessed with two sons, six grandchildren and two great grandsons. Perry retired as a maintenance manager in the tin mill of ArcelorMittal, where he contributed over four decades of service to our local mill. Perry was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Weirton, WV, AF & AM New Cumberland Lodge 22; The Osiris Shrine and the Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, where he was a Past President. He also served as Past President of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering around in his garage, restoring his 68 Camaro and his 67 Firebird or helping his son at drag racing events through the US. He looked forward to volunteering his time as a Shrine Clown. He also enjoyed gathering with his friends “The Road Kings” at Arby’s for evening gatherings. Perry was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Duckworth and Sister Barbara Duckworth. Perry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Duckworth; his sons, Michael (Tina) and Kurt (Rachel) Duckworth, He also leaves behind his mother, Alice Wright Duckworth, and his sister, Debbie (Henry) Zuccolotto. Perry’s legacy will also live on through his grandchildren, Amanda Dennis, Autumn Duckworth, Aubrey Duckworth, Katelyn Kirby, Owen Duckworth, and Jessica Barnhart, as well as his great-grandsons, Benson Dennis and Maverick Dennis. Visitation was held at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A funeral service celebrating Perry’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Barkley presiding. Following the service, entombment will take place at the Fort Steuben Burial Estates, with military honors provided by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.
