ALEXANDER “ALEX” JONATHAN SELIP, 35, of Weirton, WV passed away January 8, 2025. Alex was found by two fishermen near the riverbanks of the Ohio River after being missing since January 8, 2025. His unexpected passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Born on August 28, 1989, in Jeanette, PA, Alex was the beloved son of Alan and Janet M. Rendulich Selip, and the cherished brother of Nathan Selip, and loving father of Lucas Alec Selip-Mason. He was a graduate of Weir High School, Class of 2008, and furthered his education at West Virginia Northern Community College and Jefferson Technical Institute. Alex spent much of his life working as a delivery driver for several local businesses and national corporations. Though health issues later prevented him from continuing his career, he remained focused on what mattered most—his family. Above all, Alex was a devoted and loving father to his son, Lucas Alec Selip-Mason. He found joy in every moment spent with him, and Lucas was the light of his life. Known for his kindness, generosity, and good-hearted nature, Alex was a friend to all. He was connected to his faith and attended Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, where he nourished his spiritual life. Alex’s love for music was vast, spanning many genres. In his free time, he found solace in walking and hiking through nature, he loved family gatherings, and enjoyed his many hobbies, including collecting baseball cards, table card games, and coins. He was a passionate participant in the Aftanas Fantasy Football league, looking forward to the competition every season. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Ben Selip, on May 31, 1988, as well as his grandparents, George and Betty Nemeth Rendulich, and John and Anna Lutz Selip, and many aunts uncles and cousins. Though his time with us was far too short, Alex’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, compassion, and unwavering love including his son Lucas Alec Selip-Mason, his mother and father, Alan and Janet Selip; his brother, Nathan Selip; his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends and family were invited to attend a visitation prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
