William “Bill” Walters

WILLIAM “BILL” WALTERS, 75, of Weirton, WV passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 17, 1949, in Steubenville, the son of the late Jack and Ruth (Ball) Walters. After graduating from Steubenville High School in 1968, Bill went on to the University of Steubenville to obtain a bachelor’s degree. After thirty-three years at Weirton Steel Corp., Bill retired. He discovered a new passion after retirement while working as a paraprofessional at Big Red, where he supported Billy Mason’s education and many others. Being a full-time Pap for the past eight years has brought Bill the most happiness in life. Previously on the board, Bill was an active Big Red Booster and former President of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. In addition, he was a member of the Polish Athletic Club and served Pilgrim Lodge 691. All who knew Bill will cherish his dedication to his career, community, but most of all family. He is survived by his wife Mary (Belli) Walters. His son, two daughters and six grandchildren: Bill (Marnie) grandsons: Hunter, Isaac, Logan; Jaclyn (Johnny) grandson: Peter; Jennie (CJ) granddaughters: Giovanna and Noelle Morrocco. Visitation was held Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. Additional visitation was held Thursday, February 13, 2025 until the time of the Celebration of Life Funeral Service, at the First Westminster Presbyterian Church, Steubenville, OH. Burial followed at the Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. Donations in Bill’s memory can be sent to: Steubenville City Schools STARS (Jaclyn Walters- Principal). The family especially appreciates the care Bill received by Weirton Firefighters, first responders, the emergency room at Weirton Medical Center, Lifeflight Dawn and Drake, and the personnel on the seventh floor of AGH.
