Wanda “Hope” Daugherty

WANDA “HOPE” DAUGHERTY, 94, of Hendersonville, NC formerly of Colliers, WV died peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025 at home. She was born on October 31, 1930, in Holiday’s Cove, WV a daughter of the late Edward and Dora (Wright) Simmons. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daugherty, and her sister Jo Ann Romitti. Hope graduated from Follansbee High School Class of 1948 and worked for Colliers Primary School as a secretary. She was a member of Colliers United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rebecca Lodge #42, and the Red Hat Divas. For many years she was the leader of the Colliers Mountaineer 4-H Club. Hope is survived by three children: Rebecca (Steven) Anderson of Greenbay, WV, Robert (Diane) Daugherty of Prescott, WI, and Valerie (Jim) Yingst of Hendersonville, NC; one brother, Edward (Marla) Simmons of New Cumberland, WV; one sister, Ella Mae Heilman of Weirton, WV; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Souvignier, Nicholas (Melissa) Anderson, Kaitlin (Matt) Sass, Kayla (Glen) Fadden, and Dustin (Allison) Yingst; and eight great grandchildren: Jack, Alison, and Joseph Souvgnier, Brinley Anderson, Judah and Collier Fadden, and Sawyer and Walker Yingst. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., at the Colliers United Methodist Church, Colliers, WV with Pastor James Rahr officiating.
