Melanie June Winters

MELANIE JUNE WINTERS, 51, of Wheeling, WV died peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital. Born May 18, 1973 in Weirton, WV, daughter of the late Charles Arthur Winters and Rosalee Teresa (Smith) Longwell. Melanie graduated from Brooke High School in 1991 and then graduated from WVU with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and Social Work. She worked for many years in Virginia as an Occupational Therapist. Melanie was Christian by faith. Melanie is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Aftanas; her stepmother, Sandy Winters of Follansbee, WV and stepfather, Michael Longwell; her three brothers: Charles M. Winters and wife, Deborah of Follansbee, Jefferey Boynes of Mingo Junction, OH, and Michele Boynes of Weirton, WV, and Anthony Sistilli and wife Ada, of Upper St. Clair, PA; several nieces and nephews: Ashley Nicole Winters, Jeffery Boynes, Jarod Boynes, and Sofia Sistilli; several great-nieces and nephews: Colin Wayne, Rylie Eden Winters, Emma Danielle Dulaney, Cammie and Atlas Boynes; and many friends. Visitation for Melanie will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2024, from 5 p.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at 7 p.m., at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Reverend Pam Shuman officiating.
