REVEREND JESSE L. KEENAN, 92, of Follansbee, WV, entered into the presence of his Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Born on June 26, 1932, in Littleton, WV, he was one of eight children born to Jesse Lawrence and Bertha Antill Keenan. After graduating from high school, Jesse honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. Following his military service, he answered the call to the ministry, and in 1962, he was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene. For more than four decades, Reverend Keenan dedicated his life to serving others, ministering to congregations across McDonald, PA; Follansbee, WV; Masontown, WV; Beaver Falls, PA; Parsons, WV; Alum Creek, WV; Bruceton Mills, WV; Parkersburg, WV; St. Mary’s, WV, and Fairmont, WV. Even in retirement, he continued to serve his faith and his community in Follansbee, WV. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jesse never met a stranger, and his years in the ministry introduced him to some of the most precious people. His time in the ministry and his family were his life. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, of 65 years, Aline McNeil Keenan; his daughter, Audrey Keenan; his brothers, Howard, Elwood Dean, Larry and Rev. Robert Keenan; and his sister, Linda Cunningham. He is survived by his son, George (Kathie) Keenan; his brother, Darrell Keenan; his sister, Beulah Ballard; his grandchildren, Jesse C. (Sherry) Moore, Kenneth (Amanda) Moore, and Kimberly (Eric) Holbrook; and his nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Reverend Keenan’s legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to the ministry will live on in the lives of those he touched. His unwavering commitment to his faith and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Family and friends were received Friday, March 21, 2025, at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton. A celebration of Reverend Keenan’s life was held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Larry Barkley presiding.
