Edward Ray Gibson

EDWARD RAY GIBSON, 77, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday Morning, April 18, 2025 after a recent struggle with health at WVU Medicine – Weirton Medical Center with his family at his side. Ed was born on July 17, 1947 in Buchanan, WV. He was the son of the late Charles William Gibson and Margaret (Wright) Gibson. Ed worked for many years as a Mechanic with Grif Brothers, Washington, PA. Many will remember Ed for his love of building cars especially Hot Rods and working with iron and wood to make numerous items. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his grandson, John “Sal” Folio, and two siblings, Mary Gibson and Wayne Gibson. Ed is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce (Behanna) Gibson, who he always called Kid; four children: Rebecca Ott and her husband, Nidham Slimeni of Omaha, NE, Denise Cortez and her husband, Frank of Richmond, VA, Karin Folio and her spouse, Chip Willis of Clarksburg, WV and Rae Ann VanDyke and her husband, Derek of Weirton, WV; four grandchildren: Anthony Cortez, Kyra Cortez, Vincent Folio and Hendrik VanDyke; two great grandchildren, Gianni and Vincent Folio; a brother, Jimmy Gibson and his wife, Lisa of Beech Bottom, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received until the time of the memorial service on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, with Pastor Dave Keister officiating.
