Gordon Keith Halstead

GORDON KEITH HALSTEAD, a beloved member of the Wellsburg, WV community, passed away peacefully Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on October 8, 1944, in Charleston, WV, Gordon was the son of Mickey Halstead and Lois (Winfree) Haynes. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Radar operator, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and becoming an expert marksman with the M-14 rifle. After his military service, Gordon worked at Valley Camp Coal Mine and later as a truck driver for Tri-State Oil. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, mud racing, and spending time in the serene surroundings of Middlebourne, WV. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Haynes; and three siblings, James Halstead, Eulana Haynes, and Kenny Haynes. Gordon is survived by his devoted wife, Donna (Silver) Halstead, whom he married on August 31, 1970. Gordon is also blessed with three children: Kelly King of Charleston, WV; Robert Halstead, who resides in Baltimore, MD, with his partner Mark Bolton; and Tim Halstead, who lives in Wellsburg, WV, with his wife, Lisa in addition to two grandchildren, Deegan and Evera, who meant the world to him, along with several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on May 17, 2025 at the Rhododendron Shelter at Brooke Hills Park. The Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was honored and privileged to serve the family with a Simple Veteran’s Cremation.
