Two Weir High Students Win History Essay Contest

Catherine Glodowski and Addison Duffy, both students at Weir High School have been announced as District Three winners of the 2025 Disability History Essay Contest in West Virginia. Glodowski placed first, winning $1,750 and Duffy placed second, winning $1,000.
This contest was designed to reinforce West Virginia’s Disability History Week the third week in October, and to provide high school seniors an opportunity to showcase their writing skills and knowledge of disability related topics. Entries were received from high school seniors throughout West Virginia.
The Disability History Essay Contest is a collaborative effort between the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (WVDRS), West Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council (WVSILC), and State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), with cooperation from the West Virginia Department of Education.
“We would like to thank the high school principals, teachers and counselors for encouraging their students to participate, and all of the students who made time to enter the contest and submit an essay.”
The winners and their essays will be featured in the Special Edition issue of the IL Edge, WVSILC’s monthly newsletter.
