MARY ANN CAVALIER, 82, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Weirton Medical Center. Mary Ann was born on July 22, 1942, in Follansbee, WV, a daughter of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Laura (Amoruso) Chiarello. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, John Chiarello. Mary Ann graduated from St. Anthony High School Class of 1960. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Over the years she worked at several local businesses; Alcos, Gaudio’s and later retired from Rite Aid where she was the liquor manager. Mary Ann was also a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and a 60+ member of Laureate Epsilon Kappa Sorority. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. Mary Ann had no acquaintances and everyone was her friend. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, James “Jim” Cavalier at home; two children, Nikki Cavalier of Charleston, WV and D.J. (Jessica) Cavalier of Winchester, VA; one sister, JoAnn Connell of Columbus, OH; a brother-in-law, John (Mary Margaret) Cavalier of Morgantown, WV; one sister-in-law, Mary (David) Hansen of Berkeley Springs, WV; four grandchildren, Anthony and Laura Rabel, Rosemary and Olivia Cavalier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. As per Mary’s explicit instructions, visitation was held on Monday, May 12, 2025 until the time of the Catholic Funeral Mass, with Father Gerald Muoka and Monsignor Paul Hudock co-officiating, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, National Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the charity of your choice in memory of Mary Ann. The Cavalier family will be forever thankful for all the excellent Doctors, Nurses, and Support staff for the loving care and kindness they showed Mary Ann through the years and particularly during her last days.
