This time around, Pete Fernbaugh, artistic director and head writer for Cloak and Dagger On the Air, has adapted the first novel by Agatha Christie to feature her beloved duo, Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley. Actors Dave Zanieski and Micah Underwood star in the leading roles.
The plot centers on secret documents that were exchanged on the RMS Lusitania as it sank after being torpedoed on May 7, 1915, and Jane Finn, the mysterious woman who received those documents and disappeared soon after being rescued from the shipwreck.
Hovering in the shadows is the equally mysterious Mr. Brown, who seems to be both person and entity, always one step ahead of his pursuers, as they race against the clock to find Jane and retrieve the documents, which threaten a second global conflict if their contents are revealed.
“I’ve been reading Agatha Christie all my life, and I can honestly say she, like Conan Doyle, has never gone out of fashion,” Fernbaugh said. “This story recently fell into the public domain, and I knew it was perfect for our show and our troupe. Many productions have been done of Hercule Poirot, another famous Christie creation, but too few productions have been done featuring Tommy and Tuppence. I know audiences are going to find Dave and Micah absolutely charming in these roles, and I’m pretty sure they’ll discover the story itself will keep them guessing until the last second.”
Supporting Zanieski and Underwood are Cloak & Dagger On the Air’s acting troupe, The Wayward Saints: Chris Carter, Bethany Fernbaugh, Pete Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Robert J. Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Nancy Longo, Karissa Martin, Clare McDonald, Malachi McClendon, and Maura Danielle Reiff-Parissi. Sound effects for the production will be performed by Cloak & Dagger On the Air’s sound effects team, the Holy Foley Molies.
Top of WV CVB is located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17, Weirton, behind Crazy Mexican, next to Weirton Pet Spa, and across the parking lot from Bistro 303 Prime Cuisine.
“We encourage folks to set aside some extra time to check out the local businesses around us,” Fernbaugh said. “Three Springs Drive is filled with many dining and shopping opportunities. We hope our show can bring some traffic their way.”
