THELMA JEAN GEER, 74, of New Cumberland, WV passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born on July 16, 1950, in Doddridge County, WV, Thelma was the daughter of Florence Jean LeMasters and Janice Thompson Hupka. A 1968 graduate of Weir High School, she worked at several places around the Weirton area, eventually retiring as a bank teller from Hancock Savings Bank. Thelma’s faith was deeply personal. She maintained a strong relationship with God in her quiet way. Her life was defined by selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. A wife, mother, and grandmother, Thelma, embodied love and compassion in every role she fulfilled. Beyond her professional and family life, Thelma was a woman of many talents and interests. She devoted several years as a personal caregiver. Her competitive spirit shone through when she proudly earned the title of West Virginia Archery Champion. A gifted craftswoman, she took great joy in ceramics, especially known for crafting an intricate chess set that became a source of great pride. Every task she took on was met with precision and care—tedious, some might say, but only because she demanded excellence from herself. Thelma’s strong will and determination were well known to those close to her. Her stubborn streak was not just a personality trait but a reflection of her unwavering commitment and resilience—qualities that left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Roscoe Geer, with whom she spent fifty-seven wonderful years, her son Russell (Shannon) Geer of Chester, her daughter Susie Geer of Columbus, grandchildren Shane, Lacy, and Garrett Geer, and Makenzie and Haylee Kindler, and sister Barbara LeMasters of Ravenna, OH. Thelma’s wish for cremation has been honored. She was cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, Weirton. Private family services were held at funeral home.
