A friend of mine sent me a link to a song that is new to me. It is a great song that begs personal reflection and accountability. I’ll include the lyrics here below.
“I met a man who lived inside a cage. He told me that he wanted to be free.
He said, ‘Look inside yourself, Can you find a way to help?’
and in my hand I held a key.
I met a man. He cried when he saw that open door.
and I said, ‘Go. There’s a great big world to see.’
so he stepped into the light and through his broken cry he smiled and then he said to me….
I have looked for you through all these tears for you to come and rescue me from the wasted years.
and now you’re here and I know what I must do. Just be myself and live this life to the rhythm of the beat of this heart of mine
and I never will forget the day that I met you.
I met a man. From that day we were best of friends. He taught me lessons learned in the cage.
To let go of things I held, to truly be myself, he taught me that we are who we choose to be.
And I said, ‘I have looked for you through all these tears to come rescue me from the wasted years.
And now you’re here and I know what I must do. Just be myself and live this life to the rhythm of the beat of this heart of mine and I never will forget the day that I met you.
I met a man. I am the man who lived inside the cage. And I am the man whose hand held the key.
I met a man.”

This song really reflects limitations we put on ourselves. It reflects that sometimes we are our own worst enemy. It reflects that sometimes we have not seen our own worth and our greatest strengths and abilities. Perhaps we have lived with false pretenses that have stifled us to live our best lives.
What kind of cage are you in today? Do you hold a key to change your situation? What are your strengths? Sometimes fear of failure or rejection make up the bars on our cage. How can we recognize what those bars are made of and then set ourselves free?
All these questions only you can answer for yourself. What is holding you back? What are you afraid of? What keys of change and freedom do you hold in your hand?
I hope this song facilitates a change in your life. It is good to evaluate to see where we are able to make a change for a better life to be our most authentic selves. When we do this it is easy for us to experience joy and congruence. When we have joy and congruence we raise our spirits! Aka raise our frequency which creates more health in our nervous system. This in turn keeps disease and illness away.
It all has a domino effect in our bodies. Let’s create the domino effect to be in our favor. Have a good week.
As always feel free to send in your notions and comments to [email protected]. I will include them in the next available column as per their arrival relative to the publication deadline of Tuesday by 12 p.m. of the same week. If you wish to be anonymous let me know. Kindness is contagious~*
