MARY LOU (ZIRILLE) MIRASOLA, 86, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born on December 26, 1938 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Ieropoli) Zirille. Mary Lou was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Follansbee, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active in the prayer request line. She was also a committed member of the Follansbee Civic League, holding various leadership roles including Secretary, Vice President, and President, additionally, she belonged to the Theta Chi Alpha Sorority. Mary Lou enjoyed playing cards with her beloved Card Club, which was formed with fellow employees from her time working as a Secretary in the Labor Relations Department at Weirton Steel. Although she left her position after 7 years when she married her husband, James, the Card Club continued for over 60 years—a testament to the lasting friendships she built. She had a passion for reading and cooking, but above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren, who always held a special place at the top of her list. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother, Jim “Butch” Zirille. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 63 years, James “Jim” Mirasola; two children, Judith Lynn Conforti and her husband, Frank and Jim “Jimmy” Mirasola and his wife, Denise, all of Weirton, WV; five grandchildren: Nicholas and Matthew Conforti, Christina DeFallo and her husband, Joe, Rachel Miller and her companion, Thomas Buffington, and Michael Miller; a brother, Dr. Michael Zirille and his wife, Jean of Proctorville, OH; and several nieces and nephews and beloved neighbors, who always assisted and became part of the Mirasola family. Family and friends were received on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, and again on Thursday, July 10, 2025, where the funeral commenced. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, with Father Gerald Muoka presiding. Entombment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
