ZOEY ANN SMITH, 24, of Follansbee, WV, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her residence. Zoey was born on June 14, 2001 at Weirton, WV. She was the daughter of Richard Smith and Jennifer (Suders). Zoey was a vibrant, fun-loving spirit who brought joy wherever she went. Always up for a challenge, she had a passion for jigsaw puzzles—never settling for anything less than 750 or 1000 pieces. If it wasn’t complex, it simply wasn’t worth her time. Music was the heartbeat of her days. Whether she was dancing around the room or singing at the top of her lungs, Zoey’s playlist knew no boundaries. At the Wellsburg 4th of July celebration on Saturday night, Zoey heard her favorite song “Springsteen” performed live by her all-time favorite band, Cross Creek the Band. That smile, that dancing Zoey will live forever in our memories. Zoey also loved getting lost in her favorite TV shows, especially Squid Game and Outer Banks. She had a natural gift for staying connected—always texting, checking in with family and friends, and making everyone feel thought of and loved. Zoey was an all-around light in the lives of those who knew her. Her laughter, her energy, and her love will never be forgotten. Gone far too soon, she will always be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Zoey was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Richard C. Smith and Dave Suders. In addition to her parents, Zoey is survived by her younger sister, Holly Smith; grandmothers, Barbara Ann (Stepanek) Smith and Gina (Cianciulli) Suders; five aunts and uncles: Rhonda Bryant and her husband, Earl, David Smith and his wife, Jennifer, Matt Spencer and his wife, Angie, David Suders and Ashley Suders; and a host of extended family and friends. Family and friends were received on Thursday, July 3, 2025 until the time of the funeral service, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee.
