GERALD WILLIAM “JERRY” BRUNNER, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on August 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 10, 1935 in Toronto, Ohio, Jerry was the cherished only child of William and Hazel (Reuff) Brunner. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jerry dedicated part of his life to serving his country. He proudly belonged to the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. Jerry was known for his unwavering faith and was a devoted member of the New Hope Baptist Church, serving as a deacon. He embraced the joys of life with enthusiasm, particularly through his passions for fishing and hunting in the great outdoors of West Virginia. On the field, he shared his talents as a little league baseball and softball coach, guiding children of the community as well as his son and daughters. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren by taking them for scenic drives, telling stories and reminiscing on his younger years. Jerry never met a stranger, often sparking up conversation and making meaningful friendships anywhere he went- especially Starbucks in Weirton. His friendly and welcoming spirit will be remembered forever. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann of 52 years and son Gregory William Brunner Sr. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Gina (Joe) Hukill, Julie Libengood, Teresa Brunner, all of Weirton, and daughter Twila Brunner of New Cumberland, grandchildren Greg Brunner Jr., Eric (Jen) Brunner, Grace (Jay) Brunner, Tim (Kimi) Wright, Brandon (Kara) Wright, Justin Hukill, Megan (Eddie) Gardener, David Libengood, Maelynne (Tony) Hudson, Kayla Talkington, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
