CHARLES PETRILLA, 72, of Washington, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his residence under the care of his wife and daughter with the assistance of Amedisys Hospice. Chuck was born on November 13, 1952 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Andrew and Violet (Angel) Petrilla. Chuck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church – St. James Parish in Washington, PA. Chuck retired as a Steel Buyer for Caterpillar, having started his career as a foreman at Consol Coal. He was also a dedicated first responder, serving as an EMT with the Adena Fire Department in Adena, OH, before joining the Canton Township Fire Department. There, he served with distinction as Fire Chief for 10 years, retiring in 1998. Many will remember Chuck for his love of gardening and his unwavering dedication to family—whether traveling together or simply enjoying time at home, he was happiest surrounded by loved ones. Chuck is survived by his wife of 50 years, JoAnn (DiPietro) Petrilla of Washington, PA; a daughter, Jennifer Petrilla of South Park, PA; three siblings: Mary Ann Hart and husband, Don of Cincinnati, OH, James Petrilla and wife, Alexis of Boston, MA, and Christine George and husband, Kerry of Harrisville, OH; a brother-in-law, Henry “Hank” DiPietro and wife, Jennifer of Huntsville, AL; an uncle, John Panza; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends were received on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at James Funeral Home, Follansbee, where the funeral commenced immediately following. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee, with Rev. Father Gerald Muoka, Pastor and Celebrant, and Rev. Father Cyprain C. Osuegbu, concelebrated. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard.
