FRED T. CHAMBERS, 82, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Wellsburg, WV passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at his residence under the care of his family. Fred was born on November 13, 1942 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Floyd and Genevieve (Brown) Chambers. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his infant son, Eric. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jerry (Lynch) Chambers; three children: Jamie (Brent) Johnson of Venetia, PA, Lance (Laurie) Chambers of Nashville, TN and Melissa (Jeff) Wright of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren: Tanner and Parker Johnson, Megan and Molly Chambers, and Brooks, Grayson and Finley Wright; two sisters: Jeannine (Chambers) McGhee of NJ and Jennifer (Ronnie) Ficca, of Wheeling, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred graduated from Wellsburg High School and West Liberty University, where he played basketball and was part of the 1964 NAIA Baseball National Championship team. He was inducted into the West Liberty Hall of Fame in 1994. He went on to attend the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and dedicated his career to serving families through Chambers Funeral Home in Wellsburg and James Funeral Home in Follansbee, where he was Co-Owner. Fred was a member of the Wellsburg Presbyterian Church and active in many civic and fraternal organizations, including the Rotary, Lions Club, Moose, Elks, Masonic and Cedar Lodges, the former Follansbee Chamber (now Brooke County Area Chamber), and the WesBanco Board of Trustees. His legacy of service and compassion touched many and will not be forgotten. Also, Fred was an avid golfer and a member of Williams Country Club for nearly 50 years. Family and friends were received on Monday, October 13, 2025 and again on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 until the time of the funeral service, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Rev. Dr. Thaddaeus B. Allen officiating. Interment followed at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom.
