Samuel Loreto Mirabella

SAMUEL LORETO MIRABELLA, 86, of Follansbee, WV died peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Wheeling Continuous Care. He was born on November 14, 1939, in Steubenville, OH a son of the late James and Louise (DiNofrio) Mirabella. In addition to his parents, Samuel is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn (Wilhoit) Mirabella on April 29, 2021; one son Paul Michael Mirabella on Dec. 20, 2015, and his stepfather Victor Santilli. Samuel graduated from St. Anthony High School Class of 1957. He was lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. Samuel was a P.F.U.L. member of the American Legion Post 45. Later on in life, he worked for Weirton Steel Corporation in the Tin Mill. Samuel was a loving family man. He enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren, working in his garden, and taking off on short weekend vacation trips with his family. He was most remembered for his Italian Christmas Parties, where family and friends gathered around good Italian food and built memories that would last a lifetime. In Samuels words, “When I was younger, having a decent job and family and friends that were healthy gave me a peace of mind. As I have grown older, I find peace knowing all of my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are doing well. That they have a great family, they are educated and following their dreams, and able to pray faithfully.” Samuel is survived by five children: James (Sheila) Mirabella of Steubenville, OH, Laura (Lee) Coyle of Caldwell, OH, Thomas (Denise) Mirabella of Colliers, WV, David and companion Deb of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Ami (Brett) Blanton of Wheeling, WV; 11 grandchildren: Micca, Shayna (Dean) Wisinski, Danielle, Michael, Lydia, Tommy, Jr., Tanner, Sammy, Tori, Sami, and Mike; four great grandchildren: Braeden, Lorenzo, Greyson, and Levi; one sister, Rita Robinson of Follansbee, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. A Catholic Funeral Mass was held immediately following visitation, with Father Gerald Muoka officiating at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Follansbee. Inurnment followed at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens. Full military honors were conducted by the United States Marines and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorial donations can be made to CASA or the American Legion Post 45 in memory of Samuel.
