COL. DANIEL PAUL BUONO, U.S. Army Ret., 91, of McGaheysville, passed away on Sunday December 7, 2025 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center. Daniel was born on September 16, 1934 in Aliquippa, PA, and was a son of the late Rev. Dr. John Wesley Buono and Paula (Orru) Buono. He served with honor and distinction for 27 years in the United States Army, and his highest award was the Legion of Merit. Following his military service, Col. Buono worked as a ski patrol director for Massanutten Resort. He was a certified senior patroler with the National Ski Patrol. Later he worked as a Project Manager for Great Eastern Resort. He loved to ski, read, work around the house, and take beach vacations. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Lois Jean (Gray) Buono; his children, Bradley Paul Buono and wife, Grace of Colorado and McGaheysville, Jeffrey Alan Buono and wife, Christine of Suffolk, VA; and three grandchildren.
