Charles David Blackburn, Sr.

CHARLES DAVID BLACKBURN, SR., 86, of Windsor Heights, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man whose life reflected hard work, service, faith, and strength. Charles was the beloved husband of Barbara Gebroski-Blackburn, with whom he shared 27 beautiful years of marriage. He cherished the quiet moments they spent together, especially sitting in the living room listening to music, a simple joy that meant so much to them both. He was the proud father of four sons—Charlie, Jerry, Jim, and Bob—and three daughters—Michelle, Paula, and Angie. Charles took great pride in his family and found true happiness in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Throughout his life, Charles lived with courage and determination. He bravely fought wildfires in California, protecting lives and land. He traveled across the country as a truck driver, embracing the open road with pride. A phenomenal mechanic, he was highly skilled in working on engines and heavy equipment, including semi trucks at Weir Cove Moving and Storage. To those who knew him, Charles was a modern-day John Wayne—steady, strong, dependable, and true. Charles was also a man deeply committed to brotherhood and service. He served as Master Mason of Bethany Masonic Lodge No. 69 and was honored with a 50-year pin, recognizing a lifetime of dedication, leadership, and integrity. He enjoyed westerns and cowboy films and lived his life guided by honor, loyalty, and faith. Charles now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior, at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. Family and friends were received on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 until the time of the funeral service, at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee with Pastor Brian Knight of the Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment followed at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, with Masonic Burial Rite by his brothers of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #26, West Liberty.
