James “Jim” Westley Lunsford

JAMES “JIM” WESTLEY LUNSFORD, 74, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 7, 1951, in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Edwin and Ruth (Horne) Lunsford. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife Deborrah (Craft) Lunsford; and one brother, Tom Lunsford. James was Christian by faith. He graduated from Bethany High School Class of 1969 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Koppers as a millworker. In his spare time, Jim loved spending time on the farm bailing hay and hunting his property. James is survived by his companion, Kathryn Hixenbaugh of Avella, PA; three children, Korie (Beau) Lunsford of Wellsburg, WV, Zack (Brandi) Lunsford of Wellsburg, and Larry (PatDawn) Palmer of Wellsburg; five grandchildren, Alexandria, Colton, Carson, Kaylee, Hazen, and Alisha; one sister, Hazel (Michael) Carte of Wellsburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 and again on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brian Knight officiating at Mullenbach Funeral Home, Follansbee. Interment followed at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg. Full military honors were conducted by the US Air Force and Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
