Robert “Rob” Harold LaPosta, Sr.

ROBERT “ROB” HAROLD LaPOSTA, SR., 81, of Paris, PA passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1944 in Washington, PA, son of the late Robert LaPosta and Florence E. Brown LaPosta. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Judith Ann Vajentic. Robert is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Jo Ann Hanlin LaPosta; daughter, Leslie Killen (Jerry); son, Robert H. LaPosta, Jr. (Tara); grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Killen, Grace, Ella, and Sydney LaPosta; and brother, Eugene F. LaPosta. After graduating from high school, Robert earned a full football scholarship to attend the Virginia Military Institute. He later completed a master’s degree in teaching at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. A U.S. Army veteran, Robert served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor for each tour. During his military career, he and his family relocated 26 times while serving in the United States and Germany. He later retired as a Contract Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation, where he managed classified military contracts. Following retirement, Robert and his family settled in Paris and became members of Paris Presbyterian Church. Visitation was held Friday, January 23, 2026, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton. Additional visitation was held Saturday, January 24, 2026 until the time of the funeral service at Paris Presbyterian Church, Burgettstown, PA, with Rev. Nadia Stropich presiding. Military honors took place prior to the service at the church, rendered by the US Army and American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Guards. Interment was held at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
