John Smith, Jr.

JOHN SMITH, JR., 78, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Country Club Manor Nursing Home in Steubenville, OH. Born January 11, 1948, in Wheeling, WV a son of the late John and Dorothy Elizabeth (Geho) Smith, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded death by his eight siblings. He graduated from Wellsburg High School. He went on to serve in the Marine Corp in Vietnam having in the conflict for three years. John worked for many years at Weirton Steel Corporation but retired from Ford and Chevrolet in Florida where he worked as a body repairman. John is survived by two sons, Donald (Shelly) Smith of Wellsburg, WV and John Smith of Follansbee, WV; seven grandchildren: Ashlee and Kylee Smith of Wellsburg, Elizabeth Smith of Columbus, OH, Jayden Smith of Wellsburg, Shawn Michael Minda, and Cheyenne and Jessica Smith; and five great-grandchildren: Paisleigh, Charlotte, Lainey, Whitely, and Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
