SHAWN PATRICK THOMPSON, 52, of Follansbee, WV, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 27, 2026 at WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center. Shawn was born on September 13, 1973 in Steubenville, OH. He was the son of Sharon (Kane) Thompson and the late John William Thompson III. Shawn worked as a CNC machinist and took great pride in his craft, but his true passion was sports. He was a devoted fan of the WVU Mountaineers, eagerly following everything from football Saturdays to basketball season and every game in between. His loyalty didn’t stop there—he also cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Miami Dolphins, and the Cleveland Cavaliers with unwavering enthusiasm. Whether he was watching a game, talking stats, or keeping up with the latest scores, sports were always at the center of Shawn’s world. In addition to his mother, Shawn is survived by his wife of 24 years, Miranda (Russell) Thompson; three children: Pepper Bellevue, Ava Thompson and Aiden Thompson; three brothers: John Thompson IV and his wife, Kimberly, Patrick B. Thompson and his wife, Debra and James E. Thompson and his wife, Bridget; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received on Monday, April 6, 2026 until the time of the memorial service at James Funeral Home, Follansbee, with Eric Fithyan as Funeral Celebrant.
