RAYMOND LEE NEELEY, 76, of New Cumberland, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Wyngate Senior Living Community in Weirton. Born on June 2, 1949, in Weirton, he was the son of the late Wilbur D. Neeley and Mary H. (McDonald) Neeley. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Sharon E. (Cooper) Neeley (2020); his brother, Wilbur C. Neeley (Margaret); and his sisters, Shirley Davis, Dolly Law (Richard), and Beverly Pitts (Paul). A proud graduate of Weir High School, Class of 1968, Ray went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. During the Vietnam War, he was called from reserve to active duty, where he worked in radio communications and food service. He and his wife, Sharon, were devoted members of First United Methodist Church in Weirton. Ray spent his career at Weirton Steel Corporation, working in the Tin Mill until his retirement. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and could often be found relaxing on his porch, admiring his work. He faithfully followed the weather on News 9—never hesitating to offer his own corrections—and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Above all, Ray was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for his loved ones and ensure they were always cared for. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sons, Raymond L. Neeley, Jr. (Dawn), Shawn Neeley (Abra), and Scott Neeley (Lindsey); his stepson, Zachary Morris (Diana); six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Family and friends were received on Thursday, April 30, 2026 until the time of the funeral service, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where Ray was laid to rest beside his beloved Sharon. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.steelandwolfe.com.
