Zachary Lawrence Bails

ZACHARY LAWRENCE BAILS, a beloved son, husband, and friend, entered eternal rest on May 4, 2026, at WVU-Weirton Medical Center. Born on May 27, 1988, in Wheeling, Zak was the cherished son of Larry Bails and Sandra (John) Josai. A graduate of Brooke High School, Zak pursued his passion for science, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from West Virginia University, graduating with honors. He dedicated his career to being a Lab Tech Analyst at Highmark, where he made numerous contributions to the medical field. Zak’s zest for life extended beyond his career. An avid golfer, he began playing as a young man and found a passion for the game at Pleasant Valley Golf Course, accompanied by his grandfather, Richard Bails, eventually perfecting his swing at Mountaineer Golf Course, and he treasured his golf trips to the Carolinas. As a proud Eagle Scout, he exemplified leadership and commitment to his community. He was a man of faith who celebrated life with his wife, Devon, and their four-legged companions, Archie and Yoda, and loved gathering with friends and family to play board games. Zak was a big fan of all Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams, with a particular fondness for his alma mater, the WVU Mountaineers. Unfortunately, his house was divided; his wife, Devon, was a fan of the University of Pittsburgh. Zachary leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Devon Bails of Weirton, his father, Larry Bails, and his mother, Sandra (John) Josai, all from Weirton, step-brothers Danny Brooks, Bryan (Melissa) Josai, Brandon McAllister, and step-sister La’Maya Barnhart, and various aunts, uncles, and many cousins. In honor of Zak’s life, a public viewing was held Monday, May 11, 2026, at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Weirton, where Zak’s funeral service was celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with Elder Roger A. Criss officiating. Interment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Share online condolences at www.grecohertnick.com.
